Design in the Desert
guests get a rare view inside an artist's historic Santa Fe home

On Saturday, September 27, Linda's seminar guests will tour the Garcia Street compound of artist Kirby Kendrick on Santa Fe's historic East Side. Linda worked with Kirby on the remodel of her 1932 adobe, which was featured on the cover of Su Casa magazine in October, 2007 (click here to view the complete article with photos on our website).

Grande Dame
We will spend Saturday morning getting a close-up view of the elements used to update this original artist's residence and studio: faux plaster finishes and aging techniques, re-created "stucco" walls, painted blue-and-white checkerboard wooden floors, aged and distressed zinc kitchen countertops, and many more of the large and small design details that integrate the old with the newly-old in this authentic adobe. In addition, the Grande Dame will be filled with Kirby's fabulous impressionist paintings, and you can see her latest works on her website at http://www.kirbykendrick.com/.

Design in the Desert
Join Linda for three days of art-filled fun and design in Santa Fe this fall -- the perfect time of year to visit the beautiful Southwest. In addition to Linda's full-day workshop of architectural and interior/exterior design principles, we will visit art galleries and antiques shops, enjoy local foods, tour the Santa Fe Design Center, and have an unprecedented opportunity to see two homes that have been featured on the cover of Su Casa magazine - all in one weekend!

Who says paint and wine don't mix?

Sherwin-Williams joins us for cocktails at the seminar

Casita Alegria
Linda's Santa Fe residence, Casita Alegria,
is one of two authentically remodeled adobes
that will be toured by guests of our
Design in the Desert seminar this fall.
You can see more of Casita Alegria in the two
most recent issues of Su Casa magazine, and on our website on the Magazine pages in the Media section.

Linda used Sherwin-Williams products extensively in the remodels of both Casita Alegria and Kirby Kendrick's Grande Dame, so we are excited to announce that this industry-leading paint and color company will sponsor our Design in the Desert cocktail party on Sunday, September 28.
What does this mean for our guests? It's all good news:
  • Linda will discuss how she used Sherwin-Williams products to achieve spectacular results in these two projects
  • A representative will be on hand to give the Sherwin-Williams 2009 Color Trend presentation and answer questions
  • There will be surprises from Sherwin-Williams in everyone's gift bags!

We'll talk more about our new alliance with Sherwin-Williams in next month's newsletter.

Casita Alegria adds another

to her crown

Traditional Home magazine is taking a trip out west for a two-day photo shoot of the Casita to be featured in the magazine this winter. We'll let you know the exact issue as soon as we know.

They're on their way

to Santa Fe...

Fans of good design from across the U.S.A. are signing up for Design in the Desert. So far, we are expecting friends, couples and singles from Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, New Mexico and Texas!

While they are in town, many of our guests will visit El Santuario de Chimayo, about 45 minutes north of Santa Fe. Hundreds of thousands of people make the pilgrimage to this shrine every year to worship in the chapel and experience the legendary healing powers of the earth on this sacred site.

So pony up and come on out - and don't wait too long! The corral is filling up fast!
